A new way to fulfill your dream of having children

This method is aimed at couples for whom treatment with their own eggs and sperm is no longer feasible or possible. It gives you the opportunity to become parents even when other options have been exhausted.

With embryo donation, you receive an embryo from a woman who has already become a mother herself through artificial insemination. This donation is completely anonymous – neither you nor the donor know each other. Legally, the woman who gave birth to the child is always considered the mother – this is stated in the German Civil Code.

The Netzwerk Embryonenspende Deutschland e.V. (German Embryo Donation Network) is there to advise and support you and lovingly guides you through the entire decision-making and mediation process.

Embryo donation is a big decision that requires a lot of trust and courage. But it can enable you to fulfill a very special wish—the gift of a child.

Exclusion criteria for recipient couples:

Couples who already have biological or adopted children are unfortunately not eligible for embryo donation.

How embryo donation works

01 Consultation and information

First, you will receive a detailed consultation to answer all your questions about embryo donation. It is important that you are well informed and feel comfortable with this step.

02 Application and review

You can submit an application to Netzwerk Embryonenspende Deutschland e.V. (German Embryo Donation Network). After your medical and personal requirements have been reviewed, you will be added to the referral database.

03 Selection and matching

The network searches for suitable embryos from couples who have completed their family planning and wish to donate these embryos. The donation is anonymous and confidential.

04 Preparation for treatment

Bevor der Embryo eingesetzt wird, bereiten wir Deine Gebärmutter optimal vor, damit der Embryo bestmöglich annehmen kann. Dabei begleiten wir Dich mit regelmäßigen Untersuchungen.aBefore the embryo is transferred, we prepare your uterus optimally so that the embryo can implant as well as possible. We accompany you with regular examinations.

05 Embryo transfer

The embryo is transferred into your uterus using a thin catheter—a usually painless and quick procedure.

06 Waiting period and pregnancy test

After the transfer, the exciting waiting period begins. After about two weeks, a pregnancy test will be performed to give you clarity.

No, we do not offer online consultations. Given the emotional nature of this journey, we place great value on personal contact. Additionally, we perform initial examinations during the first visit to ensure that fewer follow-up appointments are necessary.
During a treatment cycle, it is crucial to determine the exact timing of ovulation or the trigger point. While an ultrasound provides important visual information, it only offers an estimate. Blood tests, however, allow us to measure precise hormone levels. To monitor how these levels develop, it is necessary to take blood samples several times throughout the cycle—ideally on the same day as your ultrasound.
